Oyo governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has paid a private visit to the Otun Olubadan, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja at his Bodija residence, Ibadan.
The visit is coming barely four days after Ladoja had accepted to wear the beaded ceremonial Ibadan beaded crown.
Makinde, as reliably informed arrived the residence of Ladoja at 7:40 pm in a black BMW salon car on Wednesday.
Our source added he was accompanied on the visit by his Personal Assistant, Akeem Azeez, security escort, and others.
On arrival, Makinde was ushered into the private sitting room of his host where the duo was said to have a down-to-earth discussion.
The details of the private visit were not made public but the people are of the view that it might not be unconnected with the decision of Ladoja to accept the Ibadan beaded crown.
It will be recalled that the 1957 Chieftaincy law as amended stated that it is only the beaded crow-wearing High Chiefs are eligible to ascend the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.
After the intervention of the well-meaning people of the land, High Chief Ladoja in a recent interview with the newsmen decided to accept the crown but with a caveat that he should not be recognized as Oba.
The people, therefore, are of the opinion that Makinde’s visit might not be unconnected with his acceptance to wear the crown and his tactical approval of the Ibadan Chieftaincy reforms.
However, the duo after the meeting were seen at the car park throwing banters at each other.
Ladoja was said to have asked the governor, jokingly, Your Excellence, you drove yourself?
Some of the loyalists of Ladoja who were in attendance were delighted to witness what is being described as a historical reunion.
They submitted that the visit had put an end to the rumoured rift between the two political leaders in the state.
It was stated that Makinde last visited Ladoja during the build-up to the 2023 general elections.
