Graduates of Madonna University have been urged to take up the mantle of leadership and contribute to building a better Nigeria by leveraging their education and resilience to address the country’s pressing challenges.
Speaking at the university’s convocation ceremony in Rivers State on Friday, Peter Nwachukwu, President of the University’s Alumni Association, emphasised the critical role of young leaders in shaping Nigeria’s future.
“Nigeria needs your integrity, resilience, and service. The challenges are real, but so are the opportunities. Be bold, be innovative, and remain committed to making an impact,” Nwachukwu told the graduating class.
He highlighted the importance of education as a tool for societal transformation, urging the graduates to approach their future roles with courage and purpose. Nwachukwu also outlined the achievements of the Alumni Association under his leadership, noting various initiatives aimed at empowering alumni and current students.
“We have created a network that empowers alumni and supports students, bridging the gap between generations and fostering a culture of excellence,” he said. These initiatives include mentorship programmes, career development opportunities, and the expansion of alumni chapters across Nigeria.
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the collaborative relationship between the university and its alumni network. Nwachukwu commended the university’s leadership for their dedication to fostering a strong alumni-student bond, describing it as integral to the institution’s mission of producing well-rounded graduates.
He urged the graduates to remain connected to the alumni network, describing it as a lifelong support system. “No matter where life takes you, remember that you have a community that believes in your potential and stands ready to support you,” he said.
