A total of 4,376 women from the two LGAs that make up the Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State have been given the sum of N50 million as support.
The money was given to the benefiting women by the member representing Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Mansur Manu Soro, in continuation of his empowerment process in the area.
The presentation was made on Thursday by the member, who explained that the amount is in two categories of N20000 and N50000 to enable them to either start a business or boost the ones they have.
Mansur Manu Soro added that the initiative aims to uplift women entrepreneurs, promote economic growth, and enhance livelihoods within the constituency.
The member also said that “it will also help women to realise their full potential, contribute to the local economy, and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.”
According to him, “This flag-off symbolises a new chapter of opportunity, empowerment, and prosperity for women entrepreneurs across the constituency.”
“With this continued guidance and support, we are confident that this grant will serve as a catalyst for positive change and sustainable development in our communities for generations to come,” he added.
He explained that what he is doing is supporting what the state government, under the leadership of the governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, is doing across the state in terms of infrastructural and human resources development.
According to him, “As a Federal Lawmaker, it is my responsibility to enact laws that will bring development to my constituency. Along the line, we try to improve the livelihood of the people through support such as this one.”
He added “We have done a lot to develop the area since our election and inauguration in the areas of education, health, and empowerment. We will continue to do that until the end of our tenure.”
A PDP chieftain from the area, Nasiru Kabara, stressed, “I want to commend Rep. Soro for his tireless efforts in championing the rights and interests of women in our constituency.”
He added that “through his leadership, we are witnessing the tangible impact of government programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development. By providing financial support and opportunities for women to thrive.”
Also speaking, the Member of the State House of Assembly representing Ganjuwa East, Garba Adamu, commended Mansur Manu Soro for the gesture, urging him not to relent but to continue to support the people.
The Chairman of the PDP in Darazo LGA commended the Member for giving the women the money, which he said will go a long way in assisting them to build their petty businesses for self-reliance.
Some of the women, including Aishatu and Karimatu Darazo, who benefited from the empowerment, thanked Mansur Manu Soro for the gesture, saying that it will go a long way in empowering them to be supportive of their various families.
