A man identified as Junior in Elele community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State is said to be on the run after a failed rape attempt of a 15-year-old daughter of his tenant.
It was gathered that Junior had approached the sibling of his tenant aged eight and 15 years on Friday night to inquire if their father was coming back home that night.
The unsuspecting children informed him that their father would not be back that night.
Sources privy to the incident told disclosed that at about 1am on Saturday night, Junior allegedly broke into the house of his tenant and headed straight to where the 15 years old girl was lying down with her sibling and started to undress.
One of the sources, who gave his name as Michael, disclosed that the teenage girl, who was asleep suddenly woke up when she felt a hand attempting to remove her undies.
Michael said: “The girl said she grabbed Junior’s hand who gave her a punch to enable him escape.
“We learnt that the teenage girl quickly put on her torchlight and identified the suspect. She raised the alarm that attracted other neighbours to the scene.”
Meanwhile, the father of the teenage girl, Mr. Felix (surname withheld), said he has reported the matter to Elele Police Division.
Mr. Felix said: “He (Junior) broke into my house at midnight in my absence and made attempts to rape my 15 years old daughter. He has run away after the inciident.We have not seen him after that day.”
The State Police Command is yet to confirm the development. However, a Police source disclosed that the Force is on trail of the suspect.
