A House of Representative member representing Apapa Federal Constituency, Hon. Adedayo Adesola Samuel, on Sunday, distributed 4kg bags of rice as palliative to his constituents.
The event which attracted scores of residents from the constituency was held at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA secretariat.
In his address, Hon. Samuel said the palliative is aimed at supporting both Christians and Muslims during this fasting period.
He said, “This is for the Lenten and Ramadan fast. It is the March edition. I am happy whenever I have the opportunity of meeting with my people. This is just a token and I am sure it will be well received.
“There are Hausas among us. Our relationship dates back many years. Qe are one and all our palliatives are extended to the Hausa too.
“We are one in Nigeria but with diverse tongues. I want to urge all the Hausa to extend the same support given to former President Muhammadu Buhari to President Bola Tinubu.
“What is termed Hope Agenda is a renewed hope that will manifest with patience. May God put to an end the storm ravaging the country. We have to unite and support President Bola Tinubu.
“For this palliative, 10 beneficiaries were drawn from each polling unit. There are 274 polling units in the Apapa Federal Constituency therefore today 2740 constituents will be given 4kg bag of rice. This is to show our appreciation to them for voting for our party in the last general election. This is strictly for voters. We have distributed palliative to party leaders and members on Saturday.”
In his address, Chairman, GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi commended Hon Adedayo for the kind gesture.
He said, “It is an assistance to all the constituents both Christina’s and Muslims. The Christians are fasting so are Muslims starting the Ramadan fast on Monday. This will be beneficial to all residents. This hardship is not a thing of Nigeria alone. It is felt globally. We should know that this is not peculiar to Nigeria which is why we have to be patient with the government of the day. Someone 4old me recently that a bunch of plantain in the USA cost 100 US dollars which is equivalent to Nigeria’s N100,000. So this is a global issue which our government is working to resolve its impact on Nigerians.”
Former Chairman of APC in Lagos state, Hon. Tunde Balogun said feeling the pulse of the constituents is the hallmark of a good leader.
He said, “What is happening here today is a thing of joy. May we never be afflicted with hunger. We know there is hardship in the country but it does not start today. There is no time to know a better leader than now. He has in mind his constituents and members of the party. I am impressed.”
The beneficiaries extend gratitude to the lawmaker for the kind gesture.
