The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has extended her campaign against drug abuse and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) to the corps members at the NYSC Camp in Iyana Ipaja.
During an interactive session with the Y2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps Members undergoing orientation on Thursday, Dr. Sanwo-Olu urged the corps members to contribute positively to the growth of Lagos and Nigeria.
She highlighted the alarming rate of drug abuse and stressed the need for public support to amplify the campaign messages and expand their reach.
The First Lady’s current project, ‘War Against Drug Abuse in Lagos State,’ aims to tackle this pressing issue with increased public engagement.
In addition to her anti-drug abuse campaign, Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized her office’s efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of SGBV.
She outlined the initiatives in place to provide assistive and protective care for victims and ensure they have access to justice.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the NYSC Lagos State officials for their dedication to nurturing future leaders and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment initiatives.
The Lagos State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, welcomed the First Lady’s visit as a source of motivation and inspiration for the corps members.
She thanked the State Government for prioritizing issues concerning the NYSC Scheme and reiterated the program’s contribution to national development.
