The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barr. Julius Abure has debunked allegations that the party would field a weak candidate in the gubernatorial election in Edo State to make it easy for the ruling party to have a lead in the elections.
Abure said there is no truth in that allegation because the failures experienced by Nigerians have been from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the (All Progressive Congress).
He said that the Labour Party under his leadership was not in any plot with the ruling party in the state to bungle a competitive candidate to square up with the ruling party come September 2024.
He said he wants to assure the people of Edo state that their investments in the party will become a ruling party by the election in September 2024.
“I want to assure the people in Edo that Edo guber primaries will be transparent and competitive. The people would decide the candidate for the party.
“I have done 21 years in this party, in my time as chairman, God has used me to change the trajectory of the party, you all know that it was a transactional party before my time.
“I will not short-change my party or do a disservice to my party,” Abure assured the party supporters in the state.
