The Lokoja Local Government Area Transition Committee Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, has ordered the demolition of an uncomplicated building in the Lokoja metropolis suspected to be a hideout for criminally minded people.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that the building, which is situated in Old Market, a suburb of Lokoja metropolis, was pulled down on Tuesday afternoon by the local government vigilante group.
The building, according to the council boss, posed a security threat to the residents, who believed that it had been a den for hardened criminals selling illicit drugs.
“During this operation, a big sack loaded with Cannabis sativa, popularly called Indian hemp, was discovered in the uncompleted building, in addition to some youths caught smoking the hard substance. Lokoja will never be a haven for hardened criminals in Kogi State. We will smoke them out of their hiding place,” Adamu stated.
In his remarks at the scene, the Hakimi of Ward ‘D’ in Lokoja, Alhaji Isa Baba Nasidi, called on every citizen to be extra-vigilant and mindful of suspicious persons around their vicinities.
According to him, the demolition of the building would serve as a deterrent for those who wish to engage in criminal acts in the Lokoja metropolis.
