House of Representatives member, representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, on Monday, commenced the distribution of food to his constituents to assist them during the Ramadan period.
Items distributed includes: 700 bags of 10kg of rice, 50 bags of 50kg of rice, 25 bags of 100kg of beans, 250 bags of 10kg of Maize 15 bags of 100kg of maize.
The gesture was also accompanied by a cash donation of 3 million naira to various categories of people.
Speaking during the distribution of the items, the Reps member said he took the decision, based on the challenges being faced by the people at this time, as a result of the harsh economic condition in the country.
He maintained that this was a follow-up to the distribution of Palliatives by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing the Governor as a leader who has the welfare of his people at heart.
Represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Taiye Abanika, Hon. Abdulraheem said, he recognized that people are going through serious hardship due to the harsh economic situation in Nigeria.
“The need to cushion the effects of the hardship on the people is what has propelled me to give out these items today. This may not be enough but it will go a long way to help the people, particularly those who are fasting.
In his welcome address, the All Progressives Congress, (APC), party chairman in Ajaokuta thanked the member for always remembering the people and called on the people to continue to support him to do more.
According to him, the member has always identified with the people irrespective of party, tribal, or religious affiliation, even before venturing into politics.
Hon Siyaka Raji former secretary, to Ajaokuta LGA, noted that the Reps member is only replicating what the governor has already started. He called on the people to continue to keep faith with their leaders, saying that things will get better.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ajaokuta LGA, Aliyu Ogido Haruna, said the member has demonstrated to be a worthy representative of the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
In their separate speeches, Hon Huseini Balogun, former APC party chairman in the area and a former Senior Special Assistant to Former Governor Yahaya Bello, Sandra Musa, noted that this new positive development where political leaders remember the people will go a long way in strengthening the confidence of the people in their leader.
“It’s a good thing that we now have a leader who remembered his people.
Sandra particularly noted that this was a way of showing the people that they mattered to him.
He prayed that God would continue to guide and provide him with more resources to continue this good job.
