Kogi state government has commenced the identification card registration for members of Motorcycle Operators and tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria.
The state commissioner of transportation, Atuluku Victor Levi, stated this while addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday.
Levi, told our Tribune Online that the overriding importance of the exercise is to get accurate number of members of the Unions and possibly check mate infiltration by criminal elements
The commissioner explained that the date capturing will enable government to provide welfare packages and develop a comprehensive information base.

Levi, therefore advised all the Union members to come forth for the registration exercise saying that only Motorcycle Operators union and Tricycle Owners Association members are recognized by government
According to the commissioner, it is only the recognized unions officials that are authorized, while others not known by government will be penalized by law.
Levi, further stated that successful member will be provided with identify cards with immediate effect, warning that it is punishable offense without identification number while riding in the twenty one local government areas.
