The ongoing Local Government election in Kogi State. has recorded a low turnout of voters in many polling units.
Our correspondent, who visited some polling units in Lokoja observed that only a few voters came out to exercise their franchise.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that accreditation and voting has commenced as there was presence of security agencies at the polling units.
In a visit to some polling units in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, sensitive materials arrived early while in some areas, electorates are still waiting to exercise their franchise.
As of 11:50am, sensitive materials were yet to arrive at the Muslim community and Lokoja club polling units respectively.
But in ward A crowder unit, sensitive materials arrived at 8am as many were spotted casting their votes.
Some of the electorates who spoke to Arogidigba Global Journal described the election as transparent and peaceful.
They commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC for providing a peaceful atmosphere for them to exercise their civic responsibilities.
A voter who identified himself as Sunday Shata said, “Am impressed with the conduct of this Local Government election.
” Although there is a low turnout of voters, the most important thing here is that it is peaceful and transparent. Our prayer is that whoever emerges the winner of this election should ensure that they develop the grassroots”.
Arogidigba Global Journal also learnt that the election was also peaceful in the nine local government areas in Kogi East senatorial district.
