Combined security agencies comprised of the Nigeria Police Force and vigilantes have neutralised an armed robber and arrested another with a locally made pistol in Tunga village, Bunza Local Government Area, during an exchange of gunfire.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Kebbi Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
He said, “On the 9th of December 2024, at about 1700 hrs, a combined team of policemen and vigilantes attached to Divisional Police Headquarters, Zogirma, while on routine patrol along Tilli/Durhella forest, sighted one Gaboje Alhaji Bello ‘m’ of Sabuwar Tunga village, Bunza LGA, and one other. When accosted, the suspects opened fire.
“During the exchange of gunfire, the said Gaboje was shot dead, while one Wantude Alhaji Adure ‘m’ of Ilorin, Kwara State, was arrested. A locally made pistol with one live cartridge was also recovered from them.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, while commending the gallant performance of the officers, urged them to sustain the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality.
“The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the peace-loving people of Kebbi State.
“The CP equally directed the DPO to immediately transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution accordingly.”
