The Academic Staff Union of the University (ASUU), Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA) Chapter, has commended the State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for implementing the new minimum wage for the members of the union.
ASUU, in a statement signed by its Chairperson, Dr. Abubakar B-Yauri U. and Assistant Secretary, Abubakar Musa A, stated that the approved implementation of the consequential salary adjustment has added to the wise decisions recorded by the administration of Governor Idris.
According to them, ” We wish to start by thanking Almighty Allah for blessing us with a sagacious Leader in person of His Excellency Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State who responded swiftly to our recent press release dated 31st December, 2024 and approved the implementation of the Consequential Salary Adjustment due to 2024 new minimum wage for the staff of KSUSTA.
“We further hope that the Governor will look into the payment of 3-month arrears (October to December, 2024) of the implemented wage. This wise decision by the Governor to implement 2024 minimum wage has added to the list of achievements recorded by KSUSTA under his remarkable leadership and commitment to staff welfare, such as implementation of Salary Consequential adjustment due to 2019 minimum wage, payment of a four-year (2020-2024) annual increment, release of ₦119,000,000 for KSUSTA maiden convocation, top-up allowance for security personnel, upward review of monthly cash allocation from 5 to ₦15 million Naira, domestication of reviewed University Law, reconstitution of University Governing Council etc.
“These developments are morale boosters for us to reciprocate the gesture by giving out our profound service delivery that would rank KSUSTA among the top-performing academic universities in Nigeria. The efforts of the Ministry of High Education and Head of Civil Service were laudable.
“We also appreciated the Vice Chancellor and his management team for the commitment towards improving staff and students’ welfare, numerous infrastructural development projects, and promoting academic excellence. However, it is long overdue to implement 2022 promotion, 2025 yearly increment, and conclude 2023 and 2024 promotion exercises.”
