Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has expressed his condolences to Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Umar Namadi following a tanker explosion that claimed over 140 lives.
Governor Idris described the tragic event as an unavoidable natural disaster, acknowledging the nation’s collective grief over the unfortunate incident, which he said was ordained by God.
The explosion of a petrol tanker led to the deaths of more than 100 people, with many others suffering severe burns.
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru, Governor Idris urged the people of Jigawa to find comfort in the belief that “Allah gives and He takes.”
He added that the government and people of Kebbi State stand in solidarity with Jigawa and the entire nation in mourning the loss of so many lives, especially at a time when their contributions were vital to the country’s development.
Governor Idris also called on state and federal agencies responsible for public safety to step up awareness campaigns, advising citizens to avoid participating in uncoordinated rescue efforts during major accidents.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to cope with their loss.
