Addressing journalists on Monday in Birnin Kebbi shortly after attending a meeting of the Kebbi State Elders Consultative Forum, Governor Idris disclosed that the state government disburses a monthly subvention of N150 million to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to support electricity supply in the state.
In addition to the financial support, he stated that the government had procured 75 transformers and other essential electrical accessories based on KAEDCO’s recommendations.

Governor Idris stressed that the ongoing electricity problems stem solely from KAEDCO’s failure, not the state government’s inaction, noting that his administration had taken all necessary measures to facilitate stable power supply.
He explained that it was important to clarify the government’s position in light of growing complaints from residents about inadequate electricity supply.
“Some residents of Kebbi State are complaining about lack of electricity. Some say they only get power for two or three hours a day, honestly, I don’t know what’s happening, as far as we’re concerned in government, we have done our part and fulfilled our obligations, this is not what we agreed upon with them,” Governor Idris said.
