Kebbi: Avoid cutting corners, Gov Idris warns contractors

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has cautioned contractors handling the state’s mosque rehabilitation project against delivering substandard work, warning that any attempt to cut corners will attract consequences.

This was contained in a statement signed by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser (SA) on Media and Publicity to Kebbi State Governor on Friday.

According to the statement, the governor gave the warning while speaking on the ongoing Kauran Gwandu Mosques Project 2025, which involves refurbishing 100 mosques across Kebbi’s 21 local government areas.

The governor emphasized the need for strict adherence to project specifications.

“All contractors must ensure quality work in line with the approved standards. Cutting corners will not be tolerated, and anyone found compromising will face consequences,” he warned.

To enforce compliance, a monitoring team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imran Usman, embarked on an inspection tour across the state.

The team, which included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, began its assessment in Argungu Emirate, covering Argungu, Augie, Arewa, and Dandi local government areas.

During the inspection, Engr. Usman reiterated the governor’s commitment to ensuring that worshippers have a conducive environment.

“This initiative is aimed at renovating mosques that have fallen into disrepair. Solar power installations, tiling, and other necessary improvements will be provided to enhance the comfort of worshippers,” he stated.

However, he stressed that contractors must meet the required standards.

“Any contractor found delivering substandard work will be held accountable,” Usman cautioned.
