The Katsina State government has announced its programmes for the upcoming commemoration of the 37th anniversary of the state’s creation.
At a news briefing, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Zango, stated that as the state marks this significant milestone, it remembers the visionary leadership of General Ibrahim Babangida, who established Katsina State on September 23, 1987.
He noted that the state intends to pay tribute to its founding fathers, as well as to both military and civilian governors who have worked tirelessly to develop the state into what it is today.
In the lineup of programmes, Dr. Bala explained that the government plans to gather the state’s citizens to reflect on the journey undertaken, celebrate achievements, and deliberate on the way forward towards a brighter future.
To achieve this vision, he revealed that the state governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has inaugurated a high-level committee led by the Secretary to the Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, which will organise and oversee the celebrations.
Some of the activities for the anniversary, as disclosed by the commissioner, will include an award dinner and a public sermon to be delivered by the renowned Islamic cleric Professor Isa Ali Pantami, themed “Rikon Amana” (Trust in Leadership).
“The theme has been selected to remind us of our obligations as leaders and as citizens,” he said.
According to the commissioner, serving and retired civil servants with records of outstanding performance have been carefully selected to receive awards.
