- This programme represents our belief in the potential of every community, every family and every individual in Katsina State – Radda
From Agaju Madugba, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched the Katsina State Community Development Programme (KSCDP).
Speaking during the launch at the Government House on Thursday, the Governor described the project as an initiative designed to empower communities and ensure development of the grassroots “through participatory governance.”
According to Radda, “development is not a gift, it is a collective effort.
“This programme represents our belief in the potential of every community, every family, and every individual in Katsina State.
“The KSCDP introduces an innovative approach to local development, establishing community development centres in all 361 wards across the 34 Local Government Areas.
“Each centre will feature three critical offices: Community Development, Community Support and Community Learning, designed to address infrastructure, social services, education and economic empowerment.
He further outlined some other key goals of the initiative to include enhancing social cohesion, economic empowerment, promoting gender equity, improving infrastructure access and ensuring environmental sustainability.
In his goodwill message at the programme, the World Bank Country Director, Mr. Ndiame Diop, commended what he described as the Governor’s “bottom-up approach to community development.”
As he put it, “shifting from a top-down to a bottom-up strategy fundamentally transforms project implementation.”
