Kano State Police command has advised the political parties to strictly adhere to the stipulated electoral guidelines for the coming re-run election for the Kunchi/Tsanyawa state assembly constituency.
State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel gave the warning in a meeting with leaders of political parties and other stakeholders ahead of the re-run election held at Police Officers’ Mess, Bompai-Kano.
CP Gumel assured adequate security deployments to ensure smooth electoral processes.
He warned that anyone found trying to disrupt the electoral process would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
It could be recalled that the court of appeal declared the election of ten (10) polling units inconclusive and ordered for rerun.
Chairman of the Kano State Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), the Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Amb. Zango Abdu stated that all necessary arrangements, including materials, training, and logistics have been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible re-run election.
He further stated that INEC is committed to ensuring a standard and transparent election.
