Senator Abdulrahman Suleman Kawu, representing Kano South, has stated that Kano State does not belong solely to Kwankwaso’s supporters and urged Governor Abba Yusuff to be fair and just to all citizens of the state, regardless of political affiliation.
Kawu made the statement during an interactive session with journalists, where he acknowledged that Governor Yusuff should respect and recognize the former NNPP presidential candidate and party leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso. However, he emphasized that the governor should not grant undue privileges exclusively to members of the Kwankwasiyya movement in his administration.
He said, “The people of Kano State are nearly 20 million. So, while he has promised not to betray his mentor, Musa Kwankwaso, he must also remember that there are millions of people in the state he is responsible for and must avoid betraying or victimizing them, because they are the ones who elected him. About one million of those people voted for him on behalf of the others.
“And I want him to know that, the biggest betrayal is to betray Allah who does everything for him at every step of his life up till when he was given the chance to govern Kano State. That is where betrayal is most dangerous.

“If it is one person, you can seek his forgiveness and he will forgive you.
“However, if you betray over 20 million people or the few who supported you, I am pleading with Governor Abba to avoid this danger.
“He must also know that, his government is not only about the rights of Kwankwaso or members of Kwankwasiyya but there are also the rights of NNPP members and all other persons that joined hands and supported him till he became the governor.
“We also have rights that must be protected. That is the first thing that he must be conscious about.
“He must also protect the rights of APC members who did not even vote for him. It must be the same with the members of the PDP and other smaller parties.
“Because he swore, he should go back to what he swore to do. He held the Qur’an and and swore in the presence of people. “That is also another thing of importance to be aware of.
“The same rights apply to anybody who only enters Kano to spend a day, his rights and protection of his life and property rest with Governor Abba and he must be conscious of this.”
Speaking on internal crisis within the party, Senator Kawu who expressed satisfaction over recent reconciliation moves, particularly resolution of misunderstanding between Governor Yusuff and Kwankwaso equally advised the Kano State Governor to walk his talks on genuine reconciliation with perceived political enemies.
“I am advising His Excellency the governor, to as he promised the leader (Kwankwaso), he should also promise us and the people.of Kano State that, there will be no oppression against anybody.
“My third advice is that, the governor has reiterated his allegiance and allowed loyalty to Kwankwaso, and I supported him on that, but there must a limit to it, which is what will be the best for Kano State and its people in terms of development, welfare and everything.
“He must not under any circumstance be a party to anything that will unfairly bring enemies and division or oppress some people that have some differences with Kwankwaso.
“If he does this, he has failed in his responsibility as governor. “
