The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced the recovery of N212.3 billion in 2024, which was returned to rightful owners following resolutions of disputes.

This was revealed by the Deputy Commander General, Mujahideen Aminuddeen, during a press briefing in Kano on the board’s achievements and future plans.

Aminuddeen disclosed that the recovered funds were linked to cases involving business disagreements, inheritance disputes, and debts.

“In the year 2024, we received 16,939 complaints, including domestic disputes among couples, business conflicts, inheritance matters, community disputes, and debts,” he stated.

Of these cases, 7,884 were resolved amicably through reconciliation.

The board also conducted 885 operations statewide, leading to the arrest of 354 individuals who were subsequently charged in court for various offenses.

Additionally, the Hisbah handled 2,836 criminal cases, many related to financial disputes such as unpaid rents, failed business arrangements, and inheritance claims.

Aminuddeen emphasized that the board does not take commissions or percentages from recovered funds, ensuring all money is returned in full. “Hisbah does all these without any ‘commission-cuts’ or percentages in any form. All the recoveries and returns were made freely,” he added.

Looking ahead to 2025, the board, under the leadership of Commander General Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, has outlined five key resolutions: raising public awareness, poverty alleviation, instilling moral values, supporting skills acquisition and startup capital initiatives, and fostering partnerships to promote peace and development in the state.
