Kano State government has announced plans to introduce a proactive disclosure template for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
This was stated by the newly appointed Kano State Information Commissioner, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya during a maiden meeting with information officers attached to various MDAs.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at ensuring a transparent release of public information in compliance with policies such as the Freedom of Information Act, thereby fostering accountability and openness in governance.
He added that the proactive disclosure template would eliminate unnecessary delay in sharing information with the public, reinforcing the state’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
He tasked the officers to promote the policies and programs of the state government through accurate and effective dissemination of information within their respective MDAs.
He also disclosed plans to introduce a weekly reporting template to track the activities of MDAs and compile them into monthly reports.
This approach, according to him, would ensure a data-driven monitoring system and encourage information officers to perform their duties efficiently.
He pledged to organize regular training programs aimed at improving the skills and professionalism of the officers. End
