Security operatives comprising Police, soldiers, civil defence and others were deployed to strategic places to beef up security in Kano for the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to the Mariam Abacha American University in the state.
The President’s wife, who arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), will during her visit, inaugurate the Faculty of Law Building named after her at the Maryam Abacha University, Kano.
A source, who spoke with this correspondent explained that the security arrangements were put in place to curtail any breakdown of law and order during the first lady’s visit.
However, a statement signed by Sanusi Bature, the Director-General of Media and Publicity to Governor Abba Yusuf, stated the President’s wife will, during her visit, inaugurate the Faculty of Law Building named after her at the Maryam Abacha University, Kano.
Alhaji Bature disclosed that security measures have been put in place in Kano State ahead of today’s visit of the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu.
He added that : “Adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure hitch-free activities during the visit by the First Lady.”
According to him, the state government, alongside the police, had drafted a compressive security network on how to provide the required security at each of the places that the first lady would visit.
He urged residents of the state to conduct themselves peacefully and come out en masse to receive the First Lady.
Bature explained that the state government and security agencies were working round the clock to provide a “peaceful atmosphere” for the important visitor and her entourage.
