Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, on Wednesday extended his condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State,  following the fuel tanker tragic incident in Majia, claiming over 100 lives, and leaving more than 70 others with varying degrees of burns.

In a statement,  issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the incident as a heart-wrenching tragedy, marking a significant loss not only for Jigawa State but for the nation at large.

“We received with deep shock the news of the devastating fire in Majia town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, resulting in the loss of many lives and the hospitalization of numerous victims.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Kano State, I extend our deepest sympathies to Governor Umar Namadi, the  Government and people of Jigawa State, especially to the families of the deceased and Majia community,” the governor said.

He prayed for “eternal peace to the souls of the departed and speedy recovery to those injured”, saying “May we never witness such a tragic incident again.”
