Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the portfolios of the newly appointed Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and Special Advisers.
It will be recalled that prior to the announcement of their primary places of assignment, the new political appointees took a renewed oath of allegiance and office.
Governor Yusuf, speaking at the occasion, emphasised that he has assembled the new appointees on merit to strengthen his administration’s policies while discharging campaign promises.
However, the Governor, while celebrating the milestone achievements of his administration recorded in recent times, stressed that he is prepared to confront challenges ahead.
He called on the new members of the State Executive Council to rededicate themselves to meeting public expectations.
According to him, “The expectations from Kano residents are high. We must work hard together to meet the demands of the people. Let me draw your attention that your office is a public office. You must work in the public interest.
“I want to urge you to foster inclusiveness, discharge your duties with honesty, dedication, and trust. You must hold the trust firmly and in the overall interest of the state. You must measure up and set standards in the interest of the public,” he said.
The new appointments include Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, former Chief of Staff, now Commissioner for the Ministry of Investment, Commerce and Trade; AbdulKadir Abdulsalam, former Accountant General (AG), as Commissioner for Rural and Community Development; and Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiye, who takes over the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.
Dr Gadaffi Shehu Sani has resumed the newly established Ministry of Power and Sustainable Energy, Dr Dahiru Hashim is Commissioner for Environment, Dr Ismail Aliyu DanMaraya is Commissioner for Finance, and Nura Iro Ma’aji is Commissioner for Procurement and Project Monitoring.
The 13 Special Advisers and six Permanent Secretaries also took their oaths, administered by Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isa Haruna Dederi.
Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, the new Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Trade, Alh. Sagagi, lauded the Governor for the opportunity to serve in public office.
Sagagi emphasised that the new appointees would remain committed and loyal to discharging their entrusted responsibilities in their respective capacities.
