A Kano High Court presided by Justice Aisha Yau has restrained the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Police from arresting and detaining Kano State Chief of Staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi.
The court also restrained the EFCC and the police either by themselves or their privies, servants, agents or whatsoever from harassing, intimidating, molesting or detaining the Chief of Staff pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The order was sequel to a case filed by the Chief of Staff against the EFCC, Northern Arewa Merger Group APC, Hon Musa Mujahid Zaitawa and the Commissioner of Police, Kano State on a case of alleged diversion of Federal government ‘s palliatives.
The court, thereafter, adjourned the case to the 3rd of September for hearing of the motion on notice
It could be recalled that following an allegation of diversion of the Federal Government’s palliatives leveled against the Chief of Staff, the Northern Youth Merger Group, a platform under All Progressives Congress (APC),had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission urging it to probe the alleged crime and take action. On his part, the Chief of Staff has since denied the accusation.
