Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, on Tuesday condemned in the strongest terms the incessant attacks on security personnel and civilians by gun-wielding criminals in Aba, Abia State.
Hon. Kalu’s condemnation followed the recent unprovoked attack on operatives of the state police command attached to the Rapid Response Squad.
The attack occurred along Ngwa Road near the mosque junction, where a gang of assailants was involved. Tragically, an inspector of police and three civilians lost their lives.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, the Deputy Speaker, who represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, described the attack as an act of cowardice, barbarism, insensitivity, injustice, and cruelty.
He warned against plunging the commercial city of Aba into chaos, insisting that the killings must be brought to an end.
Commiserating with the state government, Abia State police command, and the families of the victims, Hon. Kalu urged the police hierarchy to redouble their efforts in effectively tackling crime and criminality in the state.
