Kaduna State Government has embarked on an extensive reconstruction, remodeling, and equipping of nine general hospitals that were abandoned without being renovated and re-equipped for over 20 years.
The Acting Special Adviser to Governor Uba Sani on Project Monitoring, Implementation, and Results Delivery, Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi disclosed this on Monday in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna.
The affected hospitals which are respectively located in the three senatorial zones of the State include General Hospital Ikara, General Hospital Maigana, Soba LGA, and General Hospital Saminaka, Lere LGA of zone one.
Others are General Hospital Rigasa, Igabi LGA, General Hospital Giwa, Giwa LGA and the General Hospital Sabon Tasha, Chikun LGA of zone two.
While zone three has General Hospital Gwantu, Sanga LGA, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Hospital, Kafanchan, Jema’a LGA and General Hospital Kachia, Kachia LGA.
According to Abdullahi , the central focus of the transformative effort was the General Hospital in Maigana, located in Soba Local Government Area of the State, which is undergoing a thorough overhaul.
“Under the visionary leadership of Senator Uba Sani, the state administration has taken on the critical task of upgrading these long-overlooked healthcare facilities.
“The ongoing transformation of the General Hospital in Maigana is expected to serve as a model for enhancing the quality of healthcare infrastructure and improving service delivery throughout Kaduna State.
“This ambitious initiative has carefully selected 3 general hospitals from each Senatorial Zone to benefit equitably from the upgrades.
“The strategic selection of these hospitals underscores Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to equitable leadership and the balanced development of healthcare infrastructure across the state by addressing the long-standing disparities in healthcare access and quality among different regions.
” This extensive reconstruction and remodeling initiative was not merely about physical improvements but also equipping these facilities with modern medical technology and resources necessary for delivering high-quality healthcare services.
“This comprehensive approach is anticipated to significantly enhance patient care and outcomes, ensuring that residents of Kaduna State have access to the medical services they need.
“In the same vein, more Hospitals across other Local government areas are being scheduled for this Remodelling, Reconstruction, and Equipping for improved healthcare across Kaduna State.
“As these projects progress, the Kaduna State Government remains dedicated to transparency and community engagement, keeping the public informed and involved in transforming their healthcare facilities.
“This initiative represents a significant step forward in rebuilding and strengthening the healthcare system in Kaduna, ultimately fostering a healthier and more resilient population”. The statement said.
