The leadership of the organized labour has arrived at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu over a new national minimum wage.
The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Festus Usifoh, led the organized labour delegation to the president’s office.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, is also attending the meeting slated to start at 2 pm.
No agenda has been made public for the meeting.
But the president is expected to appeal to the conscience of the workers to accept a new minimum wage that the economy can carry.
Organized labour is asking for a minimum of N250,000 as the minimum wage whereas the federal government has proposed N52,000.
President Tinubu had however indicated that he would consult with other stakeholders before a final decision could be reached on the issue.
Details to come later…
