The reappointment of Dr Aisha Adamu as the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sparked celebrations across the hospital and the wider community, with staff and residents praising her achievements in transforming the healthcare facility.
Dr. Adamu, who was first appointed by President Mohammadu Buhari, has been lauded for spearheading a series of infrastructure developments and enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery in the hospital.
In a congratulatory message obtained by our correspondent, the President, Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, Dr. Danjuma Chomo-Joel said the association was thrilled to celebrate the reappointment of Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, whose visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and commitment to excellence have made a profound impact on both the institution and the healthcare services provided to the community in the past years.
The message read, “As you continue this journey, we are confident that your expertise and passion will propel FMC Jalingo to even greater heights. Thank you for your selfless service and for inspiring all of us to strive for better healthcare delivery.”
Speaking further in a telephone interview, Dr. Danjuma said, “The MD has made giant strides in the aspect of infrastructure and training of personnel. She has attracted more specialists in various fields than any other medical director in the hospital.
“As I speak with you, she has commenced postgraduate training in some departments, and she is hoping to extend it to more departments. Her leadership style is that of a mother tendering to her child. She carries everyone along and provides an enabling environment for career development,” Dr. Danjuma said.
Speaking to our correspondent, a senior nurse at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital who preferred anonymity because she doesn’t want to appear in the eyes of others, as a praise singer said, Dr Aisha Adamu’s tenure has been marked by a commitment to improving patient care and upgrading hospital facilities.
“Under her leadership, we have seen remarkable changes here at FMC Jalingo. She has renovated several departments, expanded our emergency units, and equipped us with modern medical facilities.
“We are excited to have her back as our MD because she genuinely cares about both the patients and the staff,” the nurse expressed.
A member of the hospital’s administrative staff, Engr. Innocent Dominic, shared similar sentiments, noting that Dr. Aisha’s reappointment would further drive the positive changes witnessed in recent years.
“Dr. Aisha’s reappointment is indeed a blessing. She has been a pillar of support, pushing for adequate staff training and welfare programmes that boost morale. We are very hopeful for the future with her continued leadership.”
Some members of the public who spoke to our correspondent also expressed their excitement over the reappointment of Dr Aisha Adamu. Mr John Ibrahim, a resident of Jalingo and regular visitor to the hospital, described her as a “beacon of hope” for the community.
“Since she came on board, the difference in services has been clear. Waiting times have reduced, and the facilities are well-kept and functional. She truly deserves this reappointment,” he stated.
Another local resident, Grace Ogbeiwi, described her reappointment as well deserved, adding that she has attracted development to the hospital within the shortest time and her reappointment will attract more development to the hospital and the hospital community.
