The lawmaker representing Ondo North senatorial district at the National Assembly, Jimoh Ibrahim has promised to give priority to security, infrastructural, and socio-economic development of the state when elected into office.
Ibrahim, one of the aspirants seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, assured the youths in the state that his administration would engage youths and transform them from job seekers to wealth creators.
The Senator said he would employ Information Technology (lT) to tackle the security challenges confronting the state, saying the people of the state will sleep with their two eyes closed.
He said “My programmes are very straightforward, we are to create moral efficiency and moral knowledge and make the body more efficient.
We must also map Ondo state borders for security networks and then ensure that we will never have any cases of kidnapping, by making Amotekun a classic unique security outfit that will come with good strategy to challenge any security issues in our state.
“So one of the areas we are looking at is to ensure that everybody in Ondo state can go to sleep with their eyes closed and that’s topmost of our priority.
“Mapping every system, the tactical operations of Amotekun have to come more distinct into technology, I want an Amotekun that is IT informed because I have PhD in War.
“So we need to do more of IT, our government will ensure that Amotekun is IT compliance through strategy and innovation and is going to be well funded to ensure that people of Ondo State can go and sleep.
“We are going to face infrastructural development by making sure that we create employment through that. So we should expect the bitumen act that I’m moving at the Senate, which is now at the third reading to be more prominent and classic in engagement.
“Also in the North, we are going to do swap contracts, we are not going to spend kobo to do our roads. The civil service will be very top instrumental that will run the government to ensure that they are computerized. We are to devote powers to Commissioners to make them powerful so that they will not be running after the governor for any approval”
While expressing optimism about securing the governorship ticket of APC, he appealed to the party leadership to give a level playground to all the aspirants eyeing the ticket, saying the should be no annointed candidate.
He said “Maybe the death of Aketi has enhanced my chances because Aketi is a human being, he can be subjectively objective at the last minute. But now that he is no more, that possibility is written off completely. So whoever is there, wants to run for governor will meet me at the field.
“So Aketi’s death doesn’t affect my chances at all, but it would enhance my chances to win the governorship position of this state. So we are working seriously to win this election. And the President will never say that we should go and work for the incumbent governor.
He can only appeal that maybe he prefers one person if you can prefer him and if you cannot go and do your election. So the President cannot say that I have taken this person so all of you should go and sit down.
“I don’t use people’s names to campaign, my campaign is very proud of my work. I’m not a desperate politician, I only want to help my state, if I get it I will develop the state and if you give me to somebody else I’m not going to die. So we are combing the strategy.
“And if I’m not contesting in this election, then my support to anybody is based on your credentials because I am an academic person, if people are doubting your ordinary school certificate it would be difficult for me to support you.“
