The Jigawa State Ministry of Basic Education has announced the resumption date for public and private schools in the state.
According to the Commissioner, Dr. Lawan Danzomo, schools will resume on Monday for the commencement of the 2024/2025 third term academic session.
Danzomo, in a press conference held on Saturday at his office in Dutse, the state capital, disclosed that boarding students will resume on Sunday while day students will join their counterparts on Monday.
“The resumption marks the beginning of the final term of the academic session. Students are expected to make the most of this period to prepare for their final exams,” he explained.
The commissioner appealed to parents and guardians to send their wards back to school on the resumption day, assuring them that the ministry has provided all necessary teaching aids to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
“We have provided all the necessary teaching aids that will facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools,” he stated.
Danzomo also called on teachers to be in their schools and ensure the immediate commencement of lessons.
He stated further that the ministry has posted staff to monitor the resumption and commencement of lessons in schools across the state.
“We have posted our staff to monitor the resumption and commencement of lessons in schools across the state,” he added.
The commissioner said, “The ministry’s decision to post staff to monitor schools will help ensure that lessons commence immediately and that the academic session stays on track.”
Danzomo revealed that “Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children by ensuring they attend school regularly and punctually. This will enable students to maximise the teaching and learning process.”
The commissioner assured all that necessary teaching aids are already in place to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
“This will likely have a positive impact on students’ academic performance,” he added.
“The resumption applies to all public and private schools in Jigawa State. The ministry’s efforts aim to maintain consistency and quality in education across the state,” he concluded.
