Jigawa State government has approved N30 million for the development of an electronic procurement portal aimed at ensuring effective due process in all states’ government contracts warding and project monitoring.
This was disclosed by the Director General of the Jigawa state Due Process and Projects Monitoring Bureau, Professor Kassim Muhammad while defending the 2025 budget proposal before the House Committee on Due Process and Projects Monitoring.
The director general told the lawmakers that the government has allocated a total sum of N70 million to the agency to execute some capital and recurring expenditures next year
According to him “Due Process and Projects Monitoring Bureau has earmarked.N70 million for its services in the 2025 fiscal year.”
Muhammad explained that “N30 million is earmarked for the development of Electronic Procurement Portal and N10 million earmarked for routine maintenance of the system.
“Another N10 million set aside for the capacity building of staff, while 20 million would be spent on Zonal Annual Procurement Forum.”
The director general expressed gratitude to the state governor Malam Umar Namadi and the legislatures for their support in making the bureau’s operations easy and effective.
In his remark, the Chairman House Committee on Due Process who is the member representing Birnin Kudu Constituency Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Ibrahim said the agency plays a vital role in the vetting, inspection and monitoring of projects.
Also commenting the member representing Guri Constituency Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Tura Musari, stressed the need for the agency to establish zonal offices to ensure full coverage in monitoring of government’s projects across the state.
