The Jigawa State Government has approved N10,000 wage awards to state and local governments’ civil servants.
The Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this to newsmen after the state executive council meeting on Friday.
He said the decision came after deliberations on the Memorandum presented by the State Head of Civil Service (HOS) for payment of salary awards to Jigawa State Civil Servants.
According to him, “The State Executive Council has, after its deliberations, approved the sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) to each civil servant in the state for three months, effective January 2024, as salary award.
“The award for the Jigawa State Civil Servants (both state and local government workers) pending when a new national minimum wage is expected to have been signed into law and other palliative.”
It could be recalled that the Federal Government and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to a N35,000 wage award to civil servants following the removal of fuel subsidy.
