The United Kingdom has announced an increase in visa fees for students, tourists, and other travelers.
The revised fees will take effect from April 9, 2025, and will also include additional charges for travelers from visa-exempt countries who require an Electronic Travel Authorisation.

According to the UK Home Office, the fee for a student visa will rise by 35%, increasing from £363 to £490.
Similarly, the cost of a six-month visit visa will go up from £100 to £115. Adjustments have also been made to other visa categories, including work and family visas.
Defending the fee hike, the UK government stated that the move was necessary to sustain its immigration system and fund public sector wages.
“It is right and fair to increase visa application fees to ensure that the costs of running the immigration system are met by those who benefit from it,” the Home Office stated.
However, the Home Office reiterated that “the changes will help maintain a sustainable and efficient immigration system.”
