Lists conditions for easy, successful registration
From Fred Ezeh, Abuja
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will commence on a yet-to-be-announced date in January.
The Board stated it is expecting massive registrations this year and promised that all necessary plans to ensure a seamless registration and examination experience for candidates have been concluded.
In a statement on Monday, JAMB announced it has successfully generated a satisfactory pool of examination items, completed the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, and set January as the registration start date.
JAMB further stated it will conduct the most exceptional UTME in its history, having implemented comprehensive measures aimed at providing candidates and stakeholders with an unparalleled registration and examination experience.
Insights gained from the 2024 review have been integrated into the rigorous planning for the 2025 UTME. The Board added that it has also established robust measures to prevent a recurrence of the few challenges faced in 2024.
To ensure an improved experience for candidates, JAMB advised early preparations, including the creation of profiles. Candidates are required to send a text message: NIN (space) followed by their 11-digit NIN number to 55019 to facilitate the process and avoid delays.
The Board issued a strict warning regarding the use of henna, also known as ‘Laali’ or ‘Lale,’ stating:
“The application of henna on the fingers can lead to significant challenges during biometric verification, as it obstructs the process. Additionally, candidates who attempt to remove henna designs using harsh chemicals may inadvertently damage the whorls on their fingers, making biometric verification and authentication extremely difficult, if not impossible.”
Candidates were further advised to protect all ten fingers during both the registration and examination processes. Successful biometric verification is mandatory for entry into the examination hall. Without it, candidates will be unable to access the examination questions.
