From Scholastica Hir, Makurdi
Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman has pledge to support the Benue state government with innovative technology and ICT for the education of Benue children.
The Israeli Ambassador made this pledge during a working visit to the Benue State Bureau for Education Quality Assurance (BEQA) office in Makurdi.
The visit is a follow-up on the ongoing discussion with the Director General of the Bureau, Dr. Terna Francis on Israeli’s technology support for enhanced monitoring and evaluation in schools.
Recall that the DG has visited about 1,680 schools in the last 15 months of his stewardship at BEQA cut across various local government areas in the state where he identified poor learning outcomes among learners, which is partly attributed to truancy on the part of teachers as a result of poor monitoring.
The technology, when deployed to Benue state will help in enhancing monitoring without necessarily having to be physically present in the field as well as improve teaching and learning outcomes.
The visit underscores Governor Alia’s commitment to enhancing quality education at the basic and post-basic levels in the state.
Ambassador Freeman who was accompanied by the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, commended the Bureau for the work done so far and observed that the development is expected to further boost the quality of education in the state.
Governor Alia also appreciated the ambassador for his support saying it will impact positively on the teaching and learning in the schools
During the cost, the DG took the team round the offices on inspection, explaining the role of BEQA in boosting the quality of education in the state.
The Benue State Bureau for Education Quality Assurance is saddled with the responsibility of monitoring, evaluation and standardization of basic and post-basic schools in Benue state.
