The Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, has called on Nigerians to be patient with the President Bola Tinubu-led government, saying the administration is working towards solving the lingering security crisis bedevilling the nation.
In an interview with Channels TV, Uzodinma, the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, claimed that the security situation in the country is not a new thing.
According to the governor, previous administrations had battled with the same menace but failed to tackle it.
The governor opined that there is no reason to be in a hurry, assuring Nigerians that the government is making moves to solve the problems.
He said: “Insecurity in Nigeria did not start with President Bola Tinubu. Recall that even under former President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, there was insecurity. Coming up to President Goodluck Jonathan and President Mohammadu Buhari, insecurity was here in the country.
“This thing that has cumulatively been here over time is being addressed. I don’t see the reason for this hurry. It’s unreasonable to think that issues from 20 years ago would be solved in seven months. It is not magic.”
