The Nigerian Correctional Service says every inmate in custodial amenities nationwide is being fed with N750 every day and never N200 as ‘mischievously’ circulated in a bit of the media.

A press release by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr Abubakar Umar, on Thursday in Abuja mentioned the media report was false, deceptive, and mischievous in all its ramifications.

The assertion learn, “For the avoidance of doubt, the general public might want to observe that feeding allowance for inmates in Nigeria is within the public area, and distributors are paid the accepted quantity upon completion of provide.

“Contract for ration provide is normally made public, and the situations clearly said for distributors to use in step with the Public Procurement Act 2007.

“Moreover, each custodial centre has a ration committee that workouts supervisory position over high quality assurance of provide, preparation, and distribution to inmates to make sure that they’re fed throughout the accepted funds.

“The authorities have, over time, demonstrated dedication in direction of enhancing inmates’ welfare when it comes to feeding in addition to empowerment via efficient reformation and rehabilitation programmes.”

Based on him, the service is making efforts to get approval for upward assessment of the feeding allowance to replicate present financial realities.

“It’s unfair and unpatriotic for anybody to manufacture tales simply to denigrate the service.

“The general public is suggested to discountenance the false report.

“Be assured of the irrevocable dedication of the Controller-Basic of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, to work for the final good of individuals in custody at the same time as real help of well-meaning Nigerians would proceed to be appreciated,” it added.
