The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, ( INEC) has introduced February 3, 2024, for conduct of court-ordered rerun elections and bye elections.
Sam Olumekun, Nationwide Commissioner and chairman Data Voter Schooling Committee disclosed this in an announcement on Friday.
In keeping with the Fee, the bye elections had been to fill vacancies throughout two Senatorial Districts, 4 Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies spanning 9 States of the Federation.
The rerun to carry in 35 Constituencies was as directed by numerous Election Petition Attraction Tribunals.
The Fee requested political events to adjust to its Timetable and Schedule of Actions.
The assertion reads partly:” The Fee has authorised the Timetable and Schedule of Actions for conducting bye-elections ensuing from the resignation or demise of Members of the Nationwide and State Homes of Meeting. These vacancies had been declared by the Presiding Officers i.e. the Senate President, Speaker of the Home of Representatives, and Audio system of State Homes of Meeting.
“The vacancies occurred throughout two Senatorial Districts, 4 Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies spanning 9 States of the Federation.
“Moreover, the Fee is conducting re-run elections stemming from the 2023 Common Election, as directed by numerous Election Petition Attraction Tribunals.
At the moment, 35 Constituencies are affected by these Courtroom-ordered elections. Whereas three cowl whole constituencies, others contain only some Polling Items.
“Each classes of elections are scheduled to happen concurrently in all affected constituencies on Saturday third February 2024.
