The National Executive Council of IMT Enugu National Alumni Association led by its National President, Mazi (Dr) Agodi Kanu has launched its Uni-Group Cover insurance product from Universal Insurance PLC.
Dr Kanu in his address to members of the association revealed that the Uni-Group Cover insurance product is a revolutionary compensation plan tailored for united groups, associations, institutions, and organized bodies to safeguard them against accidents.
“This innovative product aims to provide essential funds to alleviate the financial strain on groups or Associations,” he explaind.
The Enugu branch Manager of Universal Insurance Plc, Mr Aloysius Chukwueze explained that the policy will protect members of the Alumni under the cover against any form of accident, emphasizing that incase of any misfortune occasioned by accident, the policy will compensate the victim by paying the hospital bills for the treatment of injury sustained, permanent disability, death and funeral expenses, among others.
The Deputy National President, Dr Oliver Ngwoke, who is also the chairman of the insurance committee called on all the members to key into the cover by subscribing to any plan of their choices.
Dr. Ngwoke maintained that taking up insurance policy is the way to go.
Dr Kanu, had during a courtesy visit to the acting Rector of IMT, Dr Patrick Emeka Ejim, by the national executive council, congratulated the acting Rector on his appointment, describing his emergence as a divine project and seamless transition having served as the immediate past deputy rector of the institution.
He highlighted some of the activities of his administration since inception on June, 2023, which was hinged on four point agenda of building cordial relationship between alumni association and the IMT management; promoting welfare of IMT students; enhancing welfare of alumni members; and partnering with the Enugu State government for the development of IMT.
He assured the acting Rector that the Alumni mini-stadium project at IMT is on course and the physical building would commence soon having completed the drawing work.
Kanu informed the Rector that the Alumni Association will be unveiling the Scholarship Scheme for deserving HND and ND students, and requested that the Educational Advancement Committee will liaise with him in driving the scholarship scheme, in selecting the best students for the award, as fund has been earmarked for it.
The president promised that the award is going to be an annual event and urged the students to always focus on their studies and eschew social vices like kidnapping, cultism, raping, drug abuse, examination malpractice among others, reminding them that they are the future leaders.
Responding, the acting Rector narrated his achievement within the few months in office which includes returning the green environment to IMT; bridging the communication gap between the staff and management; management’s weekly interface with the students, nicknamed student’s forum; and importantly enhancing teaching and learning with emphases on practicals, which IMT was known for.
The acting Rector used the opportunity to charge the Alumni leaders to always remember that they are the owners of the school and should contribute their quota in making IMT Enugu great again.
The rector described the scholarship scheme as a new development and first of its kind in recent past.
He urged the Alumni association not to rest on her oars, and promised his intentions to always collaborate when and where necessary.
The highpoint of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the IMT Enugu National Alumni president and the Enugu branch manager of Universal Insurance Plc.
