Barely 24 hours after the Edo State House of Assembly served an impeachment notice on the State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu, security has been beefed up in the house.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the house which served the impeachment notice on the Deputy governor said he has seven days to respond to the notice.
Meanwhile, members of the Edo State Security Networks, ESSN, armed with guns took over the front of the house and its surroundings.
A staff who spoke with Arogidigba Global Journal said the presence of the members of the state security outfit was to forestall any unforeseen attack and invasion of the house by suspected hoodlums.
As of yesterday, staff of the House were being screened as well as their vehicles by the security personnel of the House
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that staff of the assembly without identity cards were denied access to the premises of the House.
Some personnel of the Edo State Security Network and those of the House of Assembly were at the entrance gate to enforce the “No ID entrance order.
A civil defence Hilux vehicle that was stationed by the fence of the National Museum which is directly opposite the House of Assembly later drove off.
