The Imo State government has commended the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aboki Danjuma, over his success recorded so far in “Operation Comb Imo Forest” which has led to the arrest of over sixteen criminals since it began early this month and other crime-busting strategies.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Orientation, Collins Ughalaa, made the commendation when he paid a visit to the CP on Wednesday to reassure the police of the continued support of the state government to tackle crime.
During the meeting, Ughalaa commended CP Danjuma’s leadership, noting the command’s recent breakthroughs in crime fighting.
He asserted that the CP has reiterated his commitment to flushing out criminals from the state, while assuring that crime fighting remains a top priority under his leadership.
He said, “The CP has been praised for his crime-busting strategies and community-focused approach to policing; he has led sustained operations against kidnappers and terrorists, rooting them out from their hideouts in the forests and curbing guerrilla-style attacks.
“Among the notable successes was the recent arrest of four suspected kidnappers in Irete, where arms and ammunition were recovered. The intelligence-led operation underscored the CP’s proactive policing strategy, which relies on community engagement, intelligence-driven tactics, and collaboration with other security agencies.
“Beyond direct enforcement actions, CP Danjuma has strengthened synergy between the police and other security outfits, leading to the arrest of eight criminal suspects in Owerri West Local Government Area.
“Joint operations have resulted in raids on forest hideouts, the recovery of weapons, and significant disruption of criminal activities across the state. Improved intelligence-sharing and enhanced operational capacity have played a key role in maintaining security.
“However, despite his achievements, he said the CP has regretted the persistent extortion by his men despite several punitive measures to stop it, but vowed that he will not relent until the ‘bad eggs are separated from the good ones’.”
