The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Imo State chapter, has pledged to support the government of Imo State in it moves to sanitise motor parks in the state capital in order to get rid of criminal elements who masquerade as transporters.
The transport owners made the commitment when they paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Frank Onwumere, Special Advisor to the Imo State Governor on Motor Parks Supervision and Illegal Parking.
Led by Chief Kayce Igwegbe, state chairman of NARTO, the delegation conveyed the association’s support for the Shared Prosperity government initiative of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Igwegbe expressed confidence in the leadership of the state and reiterated NARTO’s readiness to collaborate with the governor’s office to enhance the efficiency and regulation of motor parks across the state.
Other leaders of NARTO who were in the delegation included Barrister Ikenna Odum, the association’s Legal Adviser; Hon. Onuoha Francis, Deputy Chairman; and Chief Ofumata Onyekaba, a respected patron of the association.
Hon. Onwumere commended NARTO for its proactive approach and affirmed the state government’s unwavering support for initiatives aimed at improving the transportation landscape in the state.
He also emphasized the importance of utilizing government-approved motor parks and urged NARTO to encourage its members to avoid roadside loading, ensuring safety and orderliness on the roads to foster a constructive partnership that will be beneficial to the state’s residents and commuters alike.
