Sanusi Bature, the Director General, Media and Communication to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, said on Saturday that he had been fortified to resist police arrest.
Bature gave a rundown of how he took refuge at the Kano State Government House for five days to avoid being arrested by the police.
He disclosed this while delivering an address at the PR Nigeria Young Communication Fellowship in Kano, claiming that at least 40 officers from the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Team were deployed to Kano to arrest him about six days ago.
He said that he remained in the Government House due to the constitutional immunity that prevents the arrest of anyone within the premises except with the governor’s express permission.
Bature explained that he had a court order restraining the police from arresting him, which was why he attended the event, adding that was mandatory for him to be present at the occasion.
He stressed that he was also fortified against being arrested.
He said, “So, there was this petition against me that nobody is handling except the IG himself. He deployed 40 personnel of the IG Monitoring Team squad to Kano since Sunday with the mandate of arresting me.
“So, I came out because of just three things, one, I don’t think I should miss this event even if I’m going to be arrested.
“The second issue is that I have secured a court order which has not been served to the police but has already gone viral. So, I’m sure they must have seen it. Thirdly, I confidentially ventured out because I’m well fortified to resist arrest if it happens.”
