The immediate-past governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu and the state party chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Amah Abraham, have chastised PDP decampees as hungry, cannot endure hunger and suffering cosmic consequences.
Addressing Abia South faithful in his Obingwa country home on Saturday, when the state PDP Working Committee paid him a visit, they said the party has learnt its lessons and will not fail again.
Ikpeazu said, “We did to ourselves what is happening to us. If we want to correct it, we can. When I was hosting the Reconciliation Committee, I told them that their mandate by my own interpretation is not to reconcile aggrieved party people alone. Something is holding everybody, including me. This is because, anybody who has not reconciled himself, cannot reconcile another person.
“There are some people that cannot be reconciled because they know within themselves that they were the people that killed the party. Their annoyance is that if this party survives, they will be paid back in their own coin. Give them anything, they will not agree because their mind has judged them.
“The war on those who are keeping us down is on. Some of them cannot endure hunger. They will even eat food for the spirits and within one week, will find a place to go. When they get there, they come back to say, nothing is happening there. There is a time of reckoning. What you sow, is what you reap. When asked out of that place they went to, it is now with you to receive them or not.”
He advised the reconciliation committee that if they approach anyone and the person refuses, the committee should find a youth to replace the person as a stakeholder, stating, “Our war tactics is Gideon’s strategy, not by number. Those who ran away are lazy politicians. This is the time to work. We must work out our salvation. It will not come on a platter of gold again.”
The loss by PDP in Abia South, he said, is not his making, and assured them that he will fund the election and denied some deserters’ claim that their annoyances were that “I gave them ticked and turned around to ask people not to vote for them. I have no time for that. They are lazy people. Since I started seeing stupid reasons, I have not seen this type before. Is it only PDP that votes for anyone, why not your people in the church vote for you,” he said.
Earlier, Abraham said God has been faithful to the party and had granted them a special grace to be in Government for 24 years, stating, “For some obvious reasons, God also allowed us to lose the 2023 elections. I don’t want us to see the loss from the negative side only. I want us to see the positive side of losing that election.
“Our losing that election and more so from a divine angle, is about one of the best things that has happened to this party. This is because it has given us an opportunity to know who are the real PDP members. If we had not lost that election, and we were told to bring six people from each LGA, probably, many of you would not be here. The truth is we are returning to Government House, in 2027.
“Our losing election is not connected to any single human being, it was a collaborative effort of people who called themselves our stakeholders who received the resources of our party and worked against our party. It was not Satan, but we did it ourselves. All of us played one role or the other and that was why we lost the election.
“This is a time for you to rise and shine. We have learnt our lessons in that last election. Those who betrayed us, God is already paying them in their own coins. Many of them are suffering the cosmic consequences of what they did to a party that made them multimillionaires and billionaires. Any other person who betrays this party will suffer severe consequences.”
He described Ikpeazu as “a product for national service and should forget contesting any other election”, and urged those bickering to come and contest as it is not Ikpeazu that is withholding them, adding that the party is going to conduct one of the freest primaries in the history of democracy in Africa. It is in your place to tell us who to represent you.
“Don’t sell it to the highest bidder so that people will not come with all sorts of corrupt money to hijack the system. Once they do that they will also deprive the real party of the positivity of that winning”, Abraham advised.
Party faithful in the zone, including Erondu Erondu (Jnr), Solomon Akoulonu, Ezinwa Abiriba, Godwin Adiele, chairmen of the party in the five LGAs of Abia South assured faithful that plans have been concluded to return PDP to its former glory in the zone, and to retain power, come 2027.
