The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has told his officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and service in the discharged of their duties.

Egbetokun gave the charge on Tuesday during the Commissioning of Imane Divisional Police Station in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Inspector General of Police, who was represented by the Kogi State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye further admonished officers in the State to be diligent, fair in their judgments and compassionate while interacting with the public.

“Remember that your role is not just to enforce the law but to protect and serve the people. You are therefore advised that you adopt a high level of maintenance culture making sure you take good care of the property being handed over to you. We will be coming at frequent intervals to check your maintenance culture.

“As we embark on this new chapter in our pursuit of safety and security, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to our communities, our officers and the principles of justice and fairness. May this police station serve as a beacon of hope and safety for all who live, work, and visit here”.

Egbetokun described the newly Commissioned Police Station in Imane as a significant milestone in the collective pursuit of safety, security and justice.

The Police boss said “As we gather here today, we acknowledge the critical role that our police force plays in maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property and upholding the rule of law.

“We are well aware of the challenges that our police force face in keeping our communities safe. From crime and violence to insecurity and unrest, the task is daunting.

“However, we also recognize the opportunities that this new police station presents. With modern facilities, advanced equipment and dedicated team of officers that we have deployed to kickstart this Police Station, we are better equipped to tackle the security challenges of our time. Especially if we have your support as a community”.

The facilitator of the new Divisional Police Station in Imane, Dr Ibrahim Alih averred that the facility represent more than just a physical structure, adding that it embodies the people shared commitment in fostering a secured environment where citizens can thrive.

“As we Commission this headquarter today, we are not just opening doors to a building, we are opening avenues for enhanced security, improved response times and strengthened relationships between our communities and the Police, ” he added.
