The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to addressing the security challenges facing Nigeria with renewed vigor. The IGP urged police officers across the country to redouble their efforts in ensuring a safer and more secured nation.
Egbetokun made this commitment during the graduation ceremony of 169 officers of the Police Special Intervention Squad, held at Ende Hills in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Monday.
“This event marks a significant leap in our continuous quest for a more secure and safer Nigeria,” said Egbetokun. “It also serves as a testament to the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to ensuring a society free from crime.”
He further explained that the Special Intervention Squad is the latest in a series of strategic responses by the NPF to counter the existential threats posed by non-state actors aiming to disrupt the country’s security.
According to him, the newly graduated officers underwent rigorous training designed to equip them with the skills needed to tackle various forms of crime across the nation.
“I charge you to always exhibit professionalism in the discharge of your constitutional duties”.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who served as the special guest of honour at the event, congratulated the officers for successfully completing their training.
He commended the IGP for prioritizing the training and retraining of police personnel, ensuring they remain updated on the latest knowledge and techniques required for their duties.
Governor Sule also praised former IGP Mohammed Adamu for his foresight in establishing the Police Mobile Training College at Ende Hills, an area once notorious for the activities of hoodlums, but now transformed into a centre for law enforcement excellence.
