The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, inaugurated the newly constructed police headquarters office in Yola on Thursday.
During the commissioning ceremony, IGP Egbetokun stated that the project is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
He emphasized that this initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to fostering a robust and well-equipped policing system by prioritizing the welfare of police officers.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Adamawa State government and the local community for the police force, describing the state as home to many police personnel.
He highlighted the successes achieved through collaboration with other security agencies and the military.

While acknowledging the unwavering support of the Adamawa State government and the people of the state for the police force, he described the state as home to many police personnel, he also highlighted the successes recorded through collaboration with the other security agencies and the military.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships for improved security, assuring that “his leadership would focus on capacity building, equipping officers with essential skills, and prioritizing community engagement to enhance safety across the nation
to establish police institutions in the state”.
Meanwhile, Governor Ahamadu Umar Fintiri has called on the Inspector General of Police to as matter of urgency establish a Police Mobile Base and a Counter-Terrorism Unit in Madagali Local Government Area.
Finitri made the call when he received in audience the IGP in his office in Government House, Yola.
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, lauded the IGP’s commitment to the welfare and operational capacity of officers.
He said “the command has recorded about sixty cases, ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, Farmers/Herders clashes, rape and other heinous crimes”.
“The command has arrested one hundred and twenty suspects in connection with the aforementioned adding that all the cases are being investigated, suspects were charged to court and cases files forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Ministry of Justice for possible Prosecution”.
Moris explained that eight AK 47 rifles, Twelve number of locally -made pistols, thirty number of fabricated single barrel guns, ninety-seven number of 6.72mm caliber of live ammunition and eight number of magazines of AK-47 rifles were recovered in the state.
CP Morris highlighted the challenges of kidnapping in border areas between Nigeria and Cameroon due to the mountainous terrain, inadequate operational vehicles, dilapidated Police Barracks accommodation, shortage of man power and lack of good communication (Control Room).
He pointed out that the provision of modern facilities has significantly enhanced police operations, leading to a noticeable decline in criminal activities within the state.
While assuring the IG of his Morris command’s unwavering commitment to making Adamawa an unsafe haven for criminals, said the command still requires additional support to enhance its efficiency.
Morris appealed for more operational vehicles, increased manpower, and better accommodation for officers.
He also extended his gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his consistent support to the police force, highlighting that the governor’s backing has significantly improved security in the state, leading to a sharp reduction in violent crimes.
