In line with its mandate to advocate and promote sound corporate governance in Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) said it would zealously redouble its efforts to partner with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the government in 2025 to promote acceptable governance practices by public officers.
Briefing newsmen in Lagos yesterday, the President of ICSAN, Mrs Funmi Ekundayo, who reeled out the Institute’s lofty achievements in 2024, urged the federal government to check the rising rate of inflation, unprecedented cost of governance and policy summersaults to ameliorate the plight of Nigerians and attract investors.
“We shall work with Ministries, Departments, Agencies of government, educational institutions and international corporate bodies to entrench good governance. On the economy, the federal government has been doing a lot but there is room for improvement. If the policies are sound enough, we don’t need to beg investors to come into Nigeria”
Ekundayo who is the first female president of the Institute encouraged governments across board to reduce cost of governance, pay attention to machanised agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), human capital development and power sectors to reduce the pains of Nigerians. On ‘japa’ syndrome ravaging almost every sector, she advised corporate organizations to re- strategize retain its best workforce.
On ICSAN’s Secretariat project, she confirmed that the proposed edifice is expected to be completed within 36 months, befitting for its status as the leading voice of good governance. “We are very optimistic for 2025, we shall partner with all stakeholders and continue in advocacy, trainings for human capacity development both within and with public space even as we expect more members in 2025” she assured.
